Easter Cards

When it's the Tuesday before Easter, you get to crafting so cards can get in the mail and to people by Easter! So that's what I did the other day - a little card creating. Here are the results:

Obviously the same image (Impression Obsession) on these 2 cards - just a little variance in coloring and finishing. I love this image - so unique! These are going to my Mom and Aunt.

This one is so cute in person and there's even a little glitter around the edges of the "peeps" (Close To My Heart) to mimic the sugar. Ah, sugar-induced Easter coma - looking forward to it! Are you a Peeps person? I love them super fresh, hubby likes them stale. This card is for my daughter and son-in-law.

And of course I can't forget a special little somebunny! He's too little for the candy this year but he'll enjoy some sweet potatoes at dinner and maybe just a lick of frosting from the cake I'm making for dessert. Yes, candy and cake - look out scale, I'm gonna blow it this Sunday! (Bunny from Papertrey Ink, eggs from Close To My Heart).

Hope you all have a wonderful Easter weekend and remember the greatest gift we all received through the death and resurrection of God's Son, Jesus.
See you again soon!

You take the cake

This weekend, our family is getting together to celebrate the winter birthdays. We have quite a few starting with my brother on Christmas Eve through my sister in law a few days after Valentine's Day. 6 in all including my hubby, daughter and son in law! So it is just much easier to celebrate them all at one time - especially in the winter when the weather can be pretty unpredictable!

I turned to a couple of challenges to create my son in law's card, including Deconstructing Jen and Pals Paper Arts. The sketch at Deconstructing Jen got me off to a great start and the Pals challenge was to include any red in the card. Take a look -

I altered the sketch a tiny bit by adding my sentiment in the oval area rather than below it. And there is red on the card although it's certainly not the main color so that may not be the best fit for the PPA challenge - but I'm going to enter it anyhow!

Images from Impression Obsession. Paper source unknown. Thanks for popping by - I will be back Monday with a new Heart 2 Heart challenge and I have a few more cards done and ready to post next week as well. Have a creative weekend~

What it feels like today

Today we're getting a blast of frigid air - current temperature - 23 (F). Yeah baby, it's cold! So it's the perfect day to post this card -

Do you blame him? I'd wear mittens on my ears too if I could! This cute bear is from Impression Obsession. I inked him up in gray and only colored his bright earwear to match the papers. A diecut snowflake (CTMH Art Philosophy) dresses up the card.

How's the weather where you are?

Unscripted Sketches #119

It's time for another new sketch at Unscripted Sketches and a new card for me:

I am not used to having so much white space on a card but I think this works! Papers are from Papertrey Ink and the image is from Impression Obsession. If you look closely, you will see I added a little paper piercing along the horizontal chevron printed strip for added visual interest.

That's it for me today - short and sweet. I think I might have to get a DQ cone - that ice cream is looking good!
Have a great day!

Patriotic Porch

Have to make this post brief as my to-do list is a mile long today!

Here is the sketch for the week at Unscripted Sketches:

And my card - with the sketch flipped sideways:

Image from Impression Obsession and paper from Lily Bee Designs.

Be sure to check out the rest of the US team and join in the fun! And be sure to check out Unscripted Sketches every day in July as we celebrate Christmas in July!

See you again tomorrow with another card to share!

US sketch

It's time for another great sketch challenge at Unscripted Sketches!

I rotated the sketch to fit this funny quote (stamp from Impression Obsession) and the added the little dog's face for added detail. I kept everything clean and simple and tried to incorporate elements that reminded me of books - for instance, the bottom half of the card has the strips of cardstock that remind me of book spines all lined up on a shelf, the border punches I used are the notebook paper edge and the bracket - things again that remind me of paper and writing and books. Maybe that's all in my mind but it works for me!!

I hope you'll join in the challenge this week at US - and be sure to check out the fabulous artwork from the rest of the team!!

A touch of summer

We have had some very warm weather for being the beginning of April but today it is much cooler - and rainy. Yuck!

I made this card a couple of weeks ago to send out as a thank you and wanted to share it with you.

Doesn't that look refreshing? The paper is from American Crafts (I believe) and the cardstock is all from PTI. The image is from Impression Obsession - one of my favorite stamp companies. I colored the image with Copics and matched my colors to the papers. Ribbon is also from PTI.

Thanks for stopping by - come see me over at Ridiculous Lab too  - see you again soon -

Troublesome Birds

If you read my post from a couple of days ago, you'll know that I have been having some problems getting a card created with a new unmounted stamp I recently purchased. Well, I am happy to say to I was able to get this card finished and I am actually happy with it!

So what do you think of the results? The image is just so springy and fresh and fun and I was determined to get something created that made me smile. I ended up coloring the image with a combination of colored pencils (sharpener near by!) and Copic markers. The background is 2 different DPs machine stitched to Plum Pudding (PTI) cardstock that was scissor distressed along the edges. I then added the image on foam tape and finished it off with a Plum Pudding bow tied together with Scrapper's floss, a felt flower and a button.

Sorry I am not sharing the disasters with you - they are better off left in the bottom of the trash can.

I will be back Wednesday with another MyGrafico sketch challenge - see you then!

All about the shoe!

I recently got an order from Impression Obsession (one of my favorite stamp companies) and I was looking forward to playing with a few of the new goodies. Here's the first card I created to share with you:

Isn't that peep-toe pump so pretty!? I haven't had a pair of heels like that in forever! (Heels and me do not see eye-to-eye, or is that toe-to-toe?) But if I was younger (and skinnier) I would so love a pair like this! Very sexy! And of course, the saying is perfect - especially if you are a shoe lover!

The white base on the card was Cuttlebugged with the Paisley embossing folder. The shoe was stamped in black Memento ink and I added the red sole with a Copic marker. Nestabilities Label 2 die created the red and black mat behind the shoe and I added a few sparkles for a little touch of bling. The red and black polka dot ribbon is from an unknown source.

I am wrapping up my Sunday and heading to bed while more snow is flying outside and a mix of rain, ice and snow is being called for tomorrow - yuck!
Hope you have a great week - I will see you here again soon!

Sweet Treats

Every Thursday, Our Creative Corner hosts a sketch challenge. And you know how I love a good sketch! So I am a little behind in getting this card posted (this sketch was up on Nov. 5) but I love how this card turned out so much, I just had to play along!

Here's my Sweet Treats for You card:

There is so much sparkly goodness on this card! The image is from Impression Obsession and it was colored with Copics, then "blinged-out" with sparklies of all kinds. Here's a close-up:

I used Stickles on the green striped candies, Prisma Glitter on the red and pink candies, chunky glitter on the rock candy and Liquid Glass on the round candies in the tall jar. The paper is a scrap I had so I don't know who made that - sorry. The cardstock mat is Hollyhock cardstock from Close To My Heart and a little silver thread finishes off the peice.

I'm off to work for the day and will have sneak peeks of new stamps from Sherrod Studio to start sharing with you tomorrow. Until then, have a creative day!
