Diaper Cake Card

I've got babies on the brain (so far, daughter is doing well and she's at 25 weeks - 15 to go!!) and I found this uninked stamp just begging to be used so I created a simple baby card -

Stamp from Stamping Bella, paper from Papertrey Ink. I kept it simple and colored only the bows around the "cake" layers, using colors to match some of the polka dots on the printed paper.

Sitting with my "Pear" computer

I made this card a few weeks ago and have forgotten to share it with you. This is one of most cutest (yes, that's totally a phrase) Uptown Girls stamps that I picked up during a recent sale at Stamping Bella. Meet Perry and her "Pear" laptop:

I kept the chair fairly neutral so Perry could take center stage. I textured her jeans a bit for a more denim look and matched her shoes to her shirt (like any fashionista would!). A little red ribbon around the card is all the embellishment needed for this tech savvy girl.

Lulu's Morning Fix

I am in the middle of - well, too many things, actually - but I snuck in a little time to stamp for fun. I inked up Lulu's Morning Fix from Stamping Bella. I love this line and would own them all if I could! But, you know, money doesn't grow on trees!

Anyhow, here's my Lulu:

I colored her in colors that match the beautiful paper from My Mind's Eye. I machine stitched around the edges and added a couple of colorful buttons for a little embellishment.

Uptown Girls

A couple of days ago, I spent the evening with my good friend Kathy celebrating her Birthday. We had a great dinner at PF Chang's (my 1st time there) and then saw "Mirror, Mirror". This is the card I made for her:

These Uptown Girls (from Stamping Bella) are definitely us! (I'm the one with the cupcakes and no, my legs are NOT that skinny).  Aren't they the cutest? I love all of the Uptown Girl stamps but so far, I have limited myself to buying just 2 of them. I will share the other one soon...she's so sweet!

Just Ducky

This week at Corrosive Challenges we have a recipe for you - not one to create in the kitchen, but one to create with your artwork! The recipe is this - take 3 different papers, add in 2 ribbons and top off with one image. Mix it all together to create a card and then link it up at Corrosive. Here's mine:

Magical Creatures

This week's challenge at Corrosive had me stumped for awhile - the theme is magical creatures and all I could originally think of was unicorns. And I don't have a unicorn stamp. So I went browsing through my stamps - quite a few that haven't seen ink yet - and came across a Ketto fairy from Stamping Bella! Woohoo - here she is:

I chose Basic Grey Curio paper as I wanted her to look like a wood sprite that lives among the flowers - that sounds magical, right? She was stamped on PTI Fine Linen cardstock and colored with Copics. Then her wings were glittered with Prisma glitter and the pompom trim was added to match her skirt.

Christmas in July

Happy 4th of July - the day we celebrate Christmas?? Well, we are in fact celebrating Christmas at the Corrosive Challenge blog this week and we hope you will join us!

This holiday quintet is starting early with some caroling and they seem to be enjoying every moment - even if they are actually out of season!  Here are this week's Big Ideas:

* Maximize DP that is printed on two sides by using each side in your card. You're always guaranteed a look that "goes together". I thought this paper by Basic Grey was the perfect compliment to the choir - a little house in the background for them to sing to and the blue swirly print at the bottom to represent snow.

* No need to add a mat to your image - ink the edges so your focal piece pops off the backgound! I didn't want to add a mat here because doing so would have resulted in a loss of more of the DP as well as the punched edge along the top edge of the blue patterned piece. This stamp is from Stamping Bella, by the way.

Corrosive sketch

This week at Corrosive Challenges we are working with this sketch:

Ahhhm I love a good clean sketch! So I created a pretty clean and simple card:

Following the sketch, I kept the layout simple and clean for this executive Bella. The paper is so bold that to add embellishments would have just been a little too much. Here's some Big Ideas for the week:

* An image doesn't have to be 100% paper pieced if you like to paper piece. In this card, the carpet  and the blue floor vase are both pieced, adding a little interest and a slight bit of dimension to the image.
* In the absence of embellishments, I have the entire focal piece added to the card front with foam tape giving the card some dimension without adding extra bulk or bling.

Today's Corrosive Challenges is all about Birthdays as Janet is celebrating hers- Happy B-day Janet! So we all created something birthdayish and hope you will join in and play along with us. Here's my card:

Doesn't that image just make you laugh out loud? I couldn't resist this cutie when I placed an order recently at Stamping Bella. I paired her with some Basic Grey paper and picked up the pink from the paper for her dress and the fun ribbon trim. Her hair had to be "red" as she reminds me of my daughter with her love of balloons.

Here's a few Big Ideas for this card:

* You can alter the look of your image by cutting off a section of your Nestie-cut image. In this case, I cut away the bottom scalloped edge so my image would fit the card better but you can do that even when fit is not an issue. Sometimes it just creates a different look that works for your project.
* Think in threes to add balance. Now, I am no art major and I'm not even sure I also get the concepts spot-on but I have learned over time that working in elements in an odd number, add more balance to your artwork. Since my image had 2 balloons, I punched my sentiment to add a third circle to the completed card.

Cooking it Up for Mom

This week at Cooking it Up with Katie, we are all about MOM......or a special lady in your life. My card is for both - a special lady who is going to be a Mom - my daughter. She's expecting in October and let's just say we are all on pins and needles waiting for this little one....some of us quite literally! (My daughter has to give herself daily injections of Lovenox - a blood thinner - as a blood clot is what was attributed to the loss of her last baby).

So we are all about keeping her healthy and this card, although it isn't specifically about being pregnant, will remind her we have her best interests at heart, this Mother's Day and always -

I grabbed one of the Bella stamps I have that hadn't seen ink yet and got busy! The paper is from the Basic Grey pad called Green at Heart. The image was colored with Copics. The sentiment is a stamp from My Time Made Easy.

So your challenge recipe this week from Katie is to cook up something for MOM. Here are the ingredients needed:

* Must be for Mom or another special lady in your life.
* Must include something punched (My green floral band has an eyelet punch along the bottom edge)
* Must include a brad (That's added to one end of my sentiment tag)

So play along with us this week - you know you have to get a Mother's Day card ready anyhow!  LOL Then link up over at the Cooking blog.

Bellariffic Friday!

This is the first time I have played in the Bellariffic Friday challenge and I'm sure I will play more often as I have a lot of cute Bella stamps waiting to be inked!

For this card, I used Amplee 'tude, and the sketch at the Bella blog:



Isn't she the cutest? I love her gorgeous hair and her ice cream looks yummy! (Looks like a couple of my favorite flavors - mint chocolate chip and strawberry - not necessarily together but what the heck!)

The cardstock is from PTI and the paper is from My Mind's Eye (dots) and the blue/flower paper, I'm afraid I don't know the source of. My favorite embellishment is the big button! I found these in a variety of colors and patterns, three on a card, at Wal-Mart and I love them! You'll see another one on a card in the next few days.

That's it for me for tonight - bed is calling and I hope I can finally show this yucky cold I have the door!

Your Next Stamp 1st Design Team Call

I am excited to find a great new stamp line at Your Next Stamp. They have some cute, cute, cute images and I would love an opportunity to be on their Design Team! There's a call open for DT members until August 28th and this is my application. Wish me luck!

I am sharing two cards tonight that exemplify my "style" and creativity. These are a couple of my very favorites and I'll explain why below each photo:

I love this adorable fairy from The Greeting Farm. Not only is it a great image to color but it's also a wonderful image to cut out and layer onto a project! This card incorporates so many fun elements that I love - ribbon, which is one of my favorite embellishments, rhinestones (second only to ribbon!), die cuts, staples and of course, incredible papers!

I adore gorgeous papers and love finding just the right patterns and colors for the image and design that I want to create. Most often, the papers are the first source of inspiration for the piece I will work on.

Don your shades - those are some shiny wings! This card features some more of my favorites: buttons, matting cut with nestabilities, and elements popped up with foam tape - it's all about dimension! Of course, the Ketto image from Stamping Bella is the center of attention on this card! And those wings are sparkled with Stickles. Maybe I'm feeling a fairy vibe here, what do you think?

And just to show that I do stamp things other than fairies, here's a third offering just for fun:

This card is all about the image (although the DP is pretty darn cool!) Granny is all about summer and I can just picture her heading to an umbrella covered beach chair to relax and read a book. I love the embossed border on this card that creates a grounding line for the image and the brads that are incorporated into the paper, adding some dimension without being over-done.
