Papertrey Ink Blog Hop

Once again, it's time for the Papertrey Ink monthly blog hop and this month we are building bouquets with suggested color combos. Here is the photo inspiration and color combo I chose:

Isn't that bouquet gorgeous? I didn't have all of the colors in ink but between paper and ink, I think I covered all my bases. Here is my card:

I used the Fine Linen as the card base and a mat of Lavender Moon, impressed with the sheet music impression plate. The flowers are from the Natural Beauties set with a few very tiny flowers from a couple different sets thrown in. If you look carefully you can also see a couple of images from Ribbons and Bows added in, to reflect the ribbons you would find in a wedding bouquet.

It only took my three tries but I think I am happy with the end result! Enjoy hopping!

Sexy Soles - Wedding Style

My last project for this month's My Time Made Easy release and I saved the best for last!

As I mentioned before, this month's templates are all about fashion - a handbag, spiffy tennis shoe, shoe box and a little number called Sexy Soles. I went with a wedding theme as I think this would be an adorable decor piece at a personal bridal shower, for instance - or, if you feel ambitious, how about as favors?

Actually, favors wouldn't be too bad as this template went together pretty quickly and easily. Kimberly (one of the other DT members) created an awesome video on how to assemble this template - I highly recommend it! You can find it here.

Let me tell you a bit about my shoe. I used white cardstock - 1 12 x 12 sheet and 1 8 1/2 x 11 sheet. I cut all the pieces on my Cameo, then assembled everything and dressed it up with some floral trim details that I purchased at the fabric store. Here's a close up so you can see the embossing a little better:

It's hard to tell from these photos but the sole was cut from a white shimmer cardstock so there's a little hint of shine. Makes it a little more wedding-y.

Wedding gift card holder

My favorite online stamping source, Papertrey Ink, just had their monthly release yesterday and one of the new products is a couple of dies called Card Base-ics. The idea is that the die will cit the base of the card plus two inner cuts that create a holder of sorts - a place that you could insert a smaller card or piece with an image, etc.. Or a gift card. Since I was trying to keep my purchase to a minimum, I opted not to buy the Card Base-ics dies when I found this post by Amber. Amber describes how to achieve the same effect using any die and cutting machine. Her directions were great so I thought I would give it a try and this is the results:

I started with a piece of PTI white cardstock and a Nestabilities die. Following Amber's instructions, I was able to cut the two flaps in just the right spot and the right size to hold a mini card which houses a gift card. I embossed the white cardstock after cutting the flaps with the In Bloom impression plate and layered the piece onto navy blue cardstock. The mini card was created from a lime green cardstock and measures 3.5 x 2.5 in size. I stamped up a couple of images from Love & Marriage to add to the small card and then finished everything off with a green ribbon wrapped around the entire card and adhered with small brads.

I love the results and saved myself some money that could be spent on other Papertrey items!  Thanks Amber!

Wedding season

June seems to be the optimal wedding time of the year so to get you prepared for any upcoming weddings, Heart 2 Heart Challenges wants to see what you can create with a wedding theme.

One of my favorite color combos for weddings is white and off white together. Add a splash of color and you have a card ready to go! I love this particular card because you can easily substitute any pop of color, any floral stamps and any sentiment to customize it for the couple. I wanted to stay in a rather neutral color mode with this one so my third color is Creme Brulee which enhances the warmer tone of the cream.  I embossed the background with an impression plate from Papertrey Ink and used Nestability dies on the focal image and bottom edge.
