Corrosive paper piecing

This week at Corrosive Challenges by Janet we are creating with paper piecing again. One of my favorite techniques! And this time I kept it pretty simple but still incorporated some Big Ideas for you:

I just love these colors, don't you? All of the paper is from the My Mind's Eye line called Quite Contrary. The solid cardstocks are from PTI. The sentiment is from a set by Close To My Heart and the gorgeous flower is from a set by Lauren Meader at My Time Made Easy. Lots of layers make this a fun card but there's a few Big Ideas to consider too:

* Not everything has to be centered! Note that the layers all meet at the top edge of the card and the sentiment is over to the right.
* The flower was stamped twice - once on the pink printed paper and once on the teal printed paper - then cut out into different layers. Instead of adding the teal layer directly over the pink (you can see on the pink layer where the teal would have been positioned in stacked straight on top) I turned the teal layer slightly to off-set the pink layer. This just added a little more interest to the flower overall.
* Just because the image was stamped on patterned paper doesn't mean I can't add some more color! I used a matching pink and teal Copic marker to add more definition to each layer of the flower
* Try stacking 2 buttons for an embellishment! And if you don't like the color of the twine/string you use to tie those buttons together? Color it with a Copic as I did here. Made all the difference in the finished look.

So how about playing along with us at Corrosive this week? We'd love to have you! And while you're there, be sure to check out what the rest of the team created for this week's challenge.

See you tomorrow when I have 2 posts to bring you - lots of fun going on!

Mary - I always love reading your tips! Many of them I already know, but there always a great reminder!! The more I papercraft the more things I have in my repertoire...it's always nice to see some of your bullets & think, "Hey, I haven't done that in a while"....thanks :)
