I have two challenges to post tonight - 1st up, the card I created for the Mojo Monday sketch this past Monday (yeah, I'm a last minute Lucy!)
I very rarely make a card where the focal point is a saying but I love how this turned out so I might have to do it more often.
The gorgeous DP is from Cosmo Cricket, cardstock and sentiment stamp from Close To My Heart, butterfly and cream cardstock from PTI and the pleated ribbon is from an unknown source. The butterfly trail was pierced and the butterfly itself was stamped, cut out and added to the card. If you check the sketch at Mojo Monday you will see that I eliminated a circle on the card front because the saying and butterfly took up more room than I first expected but hey! That's creative license! Also, just to note, the saying is stamped on vellum and framed with a piece of cardstock that was oval cut with a Nestabilities die. This way you can see the saying but still see a little of the paper through the piece. I love the way this turned out!
The 2nd card of the night is for So Sketchy Sunday #14. First, let's take a look at the sketch:
Basically it is three panels across the front with the center one being the image. There is also a band running across the bottom and a doo-dad along the right side of the image. It doesn't have to be a flower - any embellishment that works is cool.
Here's the sample:
This is Blossom from Sugar Nellie - isn't she adorable?? I stamped her with Memento brown ink (that's what I used on the Mojo Monday card too) and colored in with Copics. Then a little sparkly gel pen outlined the flowers and colored in the dots on her dress. She is then layered onto green cardstock as are the two strips of DP that were punched with a Fiskars border punch (sorry, I don't know the source of this paper). I also added a piece of cream crocheted trim and a flower combo that includes a reddish felt flower with a yellow Prima on top and a sparkly dot in the center.
I hope you will try out this week's sketch - I would love to see what you create!
All you have to do is create artwork based on this sketch. Upload it to your blog or other online gallery (please use the keyword SSS14). Then come back here and add a link to your artwork through Mister Linky below. If you link here by Friday at noon, you will be entered to win this month's blog candy! So get creative and have a great week!

Mary - I love your sentiment card! I, too, very rarely use a sentiment as my focus; but I just love cards made that way. I think I need more sentiments stamps :)
I LOVE your mojo card..it's awesome..no kidding about last min lOL
Your second card is so bright and pretty...great sketch.
I love the cards and the paper is fabulous.
Both cards are great - I love the first one. The paper piercing butterfly trail is the perfect touch. Really nice job on both cards.
These are both very nice, I have been trying harder to use the sentiment as a focal point too, not always easy!
I love both cards, but the colors on the Mojo Monday one are just gorgeous! (Of course, I am partial to the brown/blue thing!) Love the ruffled ribbon!
This was a fun sketch! I am on a "little card" kick so the one I made is a 2.5"x3.5" card. Fun, fun! Thanks for the inspiration.
They are both lovely cards. I rarely use the sentiment as focal point either but you did such a good job of it - you've inspired me to give it a try!
That sentiment card is so pretty! The sentiment focal point is really eye catching!
