I created a card for an inspiration challenge over at PaperTrey Ink and it gave me an idea for this week's sketch challenge. First, here's the card:
The inspiration piece I created the card from was this one from Heather Nichols, PTI Design Team member:
(Click the picture to see it a little larger).
The products I used on my card are from PTI except the leaf stamp, the alphabet stamps and a couple colors of cardstock used - these are from Close To My Heart. I stamped the various cardstocks to create patterned "paper" that was then punched with 3/4" punch. The PTI stamp sets I used include Spots and Dots Background, Text Boxed, and Retro Backgrounds. Paper from PTI include Bitty Dots and the new Stone colored cardstock. The main image panel was cut with a Nestabilities die and was machine stitched with a "messy" stitch - makes it easier than trying to stitch perfectly straight!
I hand drew the light floral stems with a Copic marker, added the stamped leaves and the white flowers which were trimmed with hand stitching (the small flowers) or button centers (the larger flowers). The entire panel was pop dotted to the card front for added dimension. All of the small punched pieces were arranged in a quilt pattern to mimic the pillow on the inspiration picture.
This card will also double as my entry into the weekly challenge over at Our Creative Corner where the challenge is to create a Mother's Day card - hope my Mom likes it!
So here is where this week's So Sketchy Sunday comes in. No sketch this week but your challenge is to create a Mother's Day card for your Mom, Grandma, Best Friend....using a Quilt type style. This can be punched pieces, stamped pieces - however you picture a quilt. I can't wait to see what you all create! Don't forget, this is a new month so there's new blog candy up for grabs! Just participate in the sketch challenge and you're eligible to win!
Here are the sketch rules:
* Create your artwork and post to your blog or other online gallery
* Please use keyword SSS12 for this week's challenge when you post to an online gallery
* Come back here and leave a link to your item in the Mister Linky box below. Be sure to link to the page with the artwork, not the entire blog.
* You must link to your artwork by Friday at noon EST in order to be eligible for the blog candy drawing at the end of the month. Miss the deadline? That's ok, you can still participate any time!
Have a creative week everyone!

Beautiful card! I love the softness and the colors!! I would have entered your challenge if I was a couple of hours earlier making my blog rounds for OCC participants!! I am a little late now, but I just got a Mother's Day card done yesterday for my MIL that would have qualified!! Darn it!
