It's Friday, Featuring....Me!

I just have to toot my own horn....I created a project for a Close To My Heart contest and won 2nd place! So in today's feature, I am going to share with you the project but 1st a little background story.

Close To My Heart started carrying Fancy Cuts Botanicals - die cut flowers in cute patterns, different sizes and new colors. Corporate announced an artwork contest for the months of Jan/Feb using this new product. I got the idea of a mobile and started the project in January - right before my daughter lost her baby. So I set the project aside, half done and let it go for awhile. About mid-February, I realized that I hadn't finished it and that the deadline was drawing near so I finished up and mailed it off - and it arrived to corporate office on the very last day possible!

A couple of days ago I was looking through other artwork contest winners from CTMH and found my mobile listed! Woohoo! So here is the finished project and a complete recipe list for you:

CC1000 Just Because Card Kit
X5671 White Daisy Textured Cardstock
Z2166 Tulip Exclusive Inks™ Pad
Z1092 Embroidery Floss Red & Pink Assortment
Z1093 Embroidery Floss Blue & Purple Assortment
Z1095 Embroidery Floss Yellow & Orange Assortment
Z1131 Designer Ribbon Rounds™ Crème Brulee Collection
Z803 Organdy Ribbon Rounds™ Spring Blossom Collection
Z808 Organdy Ribbon Rounds™ Winter Classic Collection
X1405 Fancy Cuts® Botanicals
Z1104 Clear Sparkles
Z1285 Holiday Craft Buttons
Z4130 9"x 9" Spine Expanders
Z371 Coluzzle® Circle
Z1294 Sanding Kit

Here's some simple directions on how to assemble a mobile yourself! The die cut flowers were punched out, sanded around the edges, layered and then trimmed with Sparkles (rhinestones). Photos of friends were added to the reverse side of some of the flowers. I braided the embroidery floss (2 strands red, 2 of blue and 2 of yellow) together to create the strands that tie the flowers together. Remember friendship bracelets? That's what the braided floss looks like. The cross bars at the top that the flower strands hang from are 9" album spine expanders! I took two of them, folded each in half and then crossed one over the other and "roped" them together with the braided floss. Ribbon was threaded through the end holes of the cross bars, knotted and trimmed. That's about all there is to it! If you have any questions, leave me a comment and I will try to explain a little better.

So that's my "feature" for today - thanks for visiting and have a creative weekend!
