Papertrey Ink Monthly Blog Hop

This month's inspiration photos from Papertrey Ink are so pretty I just had to play along! Here's just one of the sample pieces posted for inspiration:

It's a combination of art and embroidery created by Izziyana Suhaimi - stunning! We were challenged to use embroidery somehow in our card this month. I just got my most recent PTI order and had a new border die that I thought I would play with and while I experimented and know what I would do differently next time, the look is still pretty cool. Here's my card:

I used one of the new Frosted Borders dies and punched the small pieces in the lower half of the die completely out so I had "holes" for stitching. Then I used 4 colors of floss threaded through to create a little color on my Soft Stone border. The Sentiment Signs stamp was added to white cardstock with Spring Rain Ink and I swiped over the word 'celebrate' with a pale pink Copic marker. I mounted the white to an Enchanted Evening piece of cardstock and mounted the whole thing on a Soft Stone card base, allowing the border to hang off the bottom edge.

Not bad for an experiment! The holes formed by the border are a little larger than I anticipated so if I repeat this, I would use a thicker thread or fiber to stitch so not so much space would be seen. Play and learn!

Enjoy hopping and Hoppy Easter!!

I think the white space around the stitches adds visual interest! Great card!

What a fun idea! Love how you did the stitching! And also highlighting the word celebrate with the Copic marker. Very cute!
