The challenge this week at Die Cuts R Us is to use up some Christmas paper scraps. And I have plenty of those!! So I created a card using some of the scraps from 2 of my favorite papers -
The tree printed paper is from Imaginisce and the striped paper is from Basic Grey. The beautiful bird is a stamp from The Greeting Farm that was colored with a variety of red Copics and highlighted with a Spica sparkle pen. It's hard to tell from the photo but he is one glitzy cardinal!
I also added a band of white velvet ribbon (from PaperTrey Ink) - another Christmas leftover. The thank you stamp is from a set by Close To My Heart.
I've sort of gotten away from my Big Idea segments so to get back into the swing of that, I would like to offer up an idea for you to try on your next artwork. Take a look again at the bird in the card above. I cut him out so that a portion of him became the focal image and the rest was simply cut away (in this case, his tail feathers). So my challenge to you is to try using just a portion of an image the next time you've got your creative groove on! And watch here every Sunday for more Big Ideas to try!
I am spending the day relaxing and keeping hubby company. He's healing slowly and, as his pain meds are gone, he's feeling more uncomfortable than I thought he would at this point but at the same time, he's getting restless. So we may just relax and watch a movie or 2 to give him something to do while he's taking it easy.
Hope you have a relaxing day too! Until next time -
