Time-Out Tuesday...24 hours later....

Tuesday got a bit hectic for me so I'm bringing a time-out post to you a day late. But I think you'll enjoy it!!

It's a technique time-out! Yep, I'm talking about something new and easy for you to try! And we can all use easy, right??? So here's the idea - a card with almost no stamping, using paper piecing for the main image. Take a look:

This card was created using the sketch from Mojo Monday Week 78. This paper was calling my name and I knew I wanted to use it but couldn't decide on a stamp to go with it so I created my own flower mimicking one of the flowers on the paper (by SEI). Using a few nestabilities (the circle and Labels 1) I was able to create the petals and the leaves for my flower. The stem was simply hand drawn and voila! Good to go! (Click on the picture to see a larger version).

Paper piecing can be easy (as this was) or much more complex. I challenge you to find a great paper with an image that you can easily replicate in a larger format for your next card and give it a try.

And a great big shout-out to Mojo Monday for providing such great sketches week after week!!

Here's another card using the same paper but incorporating stamping this time:

This layout was based on a sketch from Card Patterns - can you tell how hooked I am on sketches??? They are just such a great way to get inspired and have a "jumping off" point for a card layout! And Card Patterns offers goodies every week so be sure to check them out!

This card has a little extra sparkle as the egg is painted with Diamond Stickles. Image from My Favorite Things. I think these guys are just too cute!!

So that's all until Friday - see you then with another "feature" -
Have a creative Thursday!

Mary, I just love the paper piecing card and the way the pieces echo the DP! What a creative thing you are.

Mary this is just the greatest idea to use your nesties and paper piece the flower! I love doing that... mimicking dp... it's always a great look and fun! I love the sketch you used too... cute as can be! I checked out Card Patterns while I was here... thanks for the link!

EEkkkk! Hardly any stamping??! I don't know if I am up for it! LOL

Your cards are just beautiful!! I need to do more paper piecing, but honestly I am not good with scissors. I don't know what my deal is, but I think I should have been held back in Kinder. :)

That's really neat how you created the image to match the paper! And how smart are you to use the labels die for the leaves - awesome idea!
