Halloween cards to end WCMD

I am not sure where the day went today so I am sorry I didn't get more posted - time just got away from me! Here are a couple of things I did get ready to share with you today and hopefully there will be more tomorrow!

The first card was created following a sketch created by Korin at Sweet and Sassy stamps for one of her World Card Making Day challenges! I changed it up just a bit but basically stayed with the general sketch.

This card features the adorable owl from Pink Paislee (you've seen him here before - I just think he is too cute and he needed to be seen again!) as well as the tree branch that is included in the set with him. Paper is from SEI and the saying stamp is from Close To My Heart. I outlined the edges of the nestability cut circles with a gold pen and added little gold dots to the images at the end of the branches. Gotta have a little shine!

This is a tri-fold card and I added some of the paper to the inside of the card as well:

Now to find a great Halloween poem to add on the inside!

Someone who left a comment earlier asked what my favorite technique is and right now it has to be paper piecing an image! I love that it adds dimension to an image so easily. It's hard to tell from the card but the owl is paper pieced - his belly, eyes and beak are all separate pieces - and up close it looks like he has a little depth to him.

Thanks to everyone who has been posting comments - keep them coming! I am going to save all of your ideas and start bringing some more technique based posts to this blog over the coming months.

Ok so onto the 2nd card I made today - again, I'm in a Halloween mood! This time, all of the products are from Close To My Heart:

This is a very simple card that is color blocked with patterned paper that was then stitched around using a yellowy gold thread. The images were all stamped onto a piece of cardstock cut with one of the long scalloped nestabilities and then added to the front of the card with foam squares to again add that dimension. The little word at the bottom says "bewitched" - just a simple one word sentiment seemed the right finishing touch.
I hope you enjoyed your World Card Making Day and will stop back and visit me again soon!

Thank you so much for participating in our WCMD Challenge. I love the way color combination you selected and image is so much fun!
