Kissing

This week at Heart 2 Heart Challenges we are starting another new feature called From Our Heart to Yours. This new themed challenge will appear every other month and will focus on a technique including tutorials for you. These may be older techniques or new-to-you and we want to see them in your challenge artwork for the week.

This month we are taking a look at Kissing and Kiss and Twist. I have a small tutorial below or you can head over to the challenge blog where a video is posted as well as a treasure trove of artwork! Here's my little walk-through and artwork.

To create a kissed image, you will need 2 stamps - one needs to be a solid image and the other needs to have an image that is smaller in size than the solid one.

I am working with the solid star image from Wishing Star and a small image found in the Flourished Blessings set. I also grabbed 2 ink pads - Honey and Olive.

For this variation of kissing, I am inking up both stamps. The larger image has the "lighter" color and the smaller image has the darker color. Ink both stamps up really well.

Now taking the smaller stamp, kiss it to the larger stamp by pressing acrylic to acrylic. If you throw in a little twist of the small stamp when you kiss, the technique is called Kiss and Twist, which is what I am doing here.

When you remove the smaller stamp, this is what you see. Now stamp.

Kiss and Twist will not give you a clear image on image but more of a texture to your image. If you press the acrylic without twisting, the smaller image will show up more clearly.

Here is another version of Kiss and Twist only this time, I stamped the large image first on paper before kissing so the ink would be lighter in the background or second generation.

This sample shows Kissing without the twisting and without using a second color of ink. By pressing an uninked smaller image onto the inked solid image, the smaller image lifts the color away, leaving an impression.

So now onto my card:

I used the design "On the Edge" from the Wishes book by Close To My Heart along with the new Mayberry paper and some Honey cardstock. This will be my son's Valentine card this year :)
