MFT Sketches are Flamazing!

It's been awhile! I'm learning a new hobby - machine embroidery. But in between playing with that, I still will get a little stamping done - this time for the weekly sketch challenge at MFT - my favorite!

Here is the sketch - and my card:

The color on the card is a little wonky as the light in my room leaves a lot to be desired. This is a white card, with a striped background from an old Basic Grey paper pad and the stamps are from MFT's Flamazing set. I cheated a little on the sketch by eliminating the small element to the right but that's ok! Sketches are just to get the creative juices flowing.

Hope to see you again soon!

Color AND Sketch challenge

I'm combining 2 MFT challenges into one card this week - the Sketch challenge and the color challenge. I just started working on Valentine cards and needed something not too girly for my adult son. He loves giraffes so I think he'll enjoy this card.

Here is the sketch and colors we're working with:

And here's my card:

I used the Color Drops dies to create my two-tone heart and the stamp is from Giraffing Me Crazy. The sentiment is from Critter Clan. It's hard to tell in the photo but the sentiment is stamped on pale yellow as is the giraffe. I did move the sentiment to the bottom of the card because it's a long one!

What are you making for Valentine's Day? I hope to have more to show soon!!

Long time, no post! MFT Sketch!

I know I haven't posted in awhile but one of my 2018 resolutions is to take more time to do the things i enjoy which include crafting, reading and playing The Sims 4. Yes, I'm a geek. So I'm starting the year with a card I created for this past week's MFT sketch challenge.

Here's the sketch:

And let me tell, I thought I had this all worked out and then as I got toward the end of the card, realized I was one element short. BUT, creative license says that's ok and I went with it as is because another image would have just looked cramped anyhow. I also moved the sentiment. Creative license, people! Here's my card:

My 2 little penguins are enjoying the cold more than I am! So what are your resolutions for the New Year? Thanks for stopping by!

MFT Color Challenge

Back with another card today - this time for the MFT Color Challenge. The colors we're using are After Midnight, Lemon Chiffon, Red Hot and Daffodil.

I got out another yet-to-be-used stamp set, Strike Up the Band, and created this:

I don't know anyone in a band of any kind but I couldn't pass up having these adorable marching bunnies! I used three of the four colors (no Lemon Chiffon in this one) and made the background to match. Cute?

I just got some more new stamps the other day (birthday gift from my loving hubby) so I am planning some more stamping time ASAP! See you soon!

MFT Sketch Challenge 352

Back to challenges!

I've decided I need to find more time in my life to enjoy some hobbies so I'm trying to get more creative time - I miss it! One of my favorite stamping challenges is a sketch challenge and I'm currently hooked on MFT Stamps so I'm playing along this week.

Here is the sketch we are working with:
And here is my card:

Featuring the Bionic Bots, these guys are ready to wish a special 4 year old a very Happy Birthday! My grandson turns 4 tomorrow and this will be his card. He loves getting cards and I'm sure this one will make him smile.

Thanks for stopping by!

MFT Sketch with Jungle Gym

It's another week and another MFT sketch challenge! This time I used the Jungle Gym stamps - such cuteness!!! I can't stand it. Anyhow, here's the sketch:

And here's the card:

I made this one for my grandson to wish him a great first day back to pre-school.

Thanks for stopping by!

A SUPER MFT sketch!

Another sketch, another card....time for another MFT challenge!

Here's the sketch for the week:

And here's the card:

Do you see the sketch? Spin it 90 degrees to the left, so the "stripes" are at the bottom. There it is! I used a cityscape stamp (NOT from MFT) as the pointed edge, then added my superhero boy and the saying and lightening bolts as the stripe (only 1....creative license... lol). I colored the clouds and cityscape with colored pencils to keep the colors soft and the boy with Copics so he stands out. This is going to be the first of random cards I send my grandson. He'll enjoy getting his own mail once in awhile, even though he lives just blocks from me.

Thanks for visiting!

MFT Sketch Time

I missed a week (or two) of the MFT Sketch Challenges but I loved this week's sketch and just got these stamps so I squeezed in some time to play!

Here's the sketch:

And here's my card:

I wanted to try some colored pencils on kraft cardstock and they worked out ok but I'm not crazy about the pencil "lines" being seen so much (really noticeable on the bear). But it was a nice departure from markers for a change. And these forest animals are so cute, who cares how they're colored! Thanks for looking!

Weekly MFT Sketch Challenge

Time for another MFT Sketch Challenge. I'm going to keep this post short and sweet! Here's the sketch:

And here's my card, using You Make My Tail Wag:

Inside says: Some Days You're the Dog, Some Days You're the Hydrant. Umm, yep.

See you again soon!

Camp Create - Spectacular Shakers

Back again with another card for MFT's Camp Create 2017. There's 5 challenges total (plus a bonus) and so far I've only finished 2 and the deadline is tomorrow! But that's ok - I enjoyed the little bit of time I had to play.

Here's my Spectacular Shaker card:

I used the Beast Friends and Oh Christmas Trees stamp sets and a couple of MFT dies to create my shaker card. As you can see, the Christmas tree is stamped in the window, behind acetate, which holds the shaker elements. I colored and watercolored the tree and added the "plaid" to the Yeti's scarf using Copic markers. The sentiment was also added to the front of the card behind the acetate panel. This was a fun one to make and I earned this camp badge:

Will I get any more camp challenges finished in time? We'll see! Thanks for stopping by!

Camp Create - Glitzy Glitter!

I'm running behind with participating in the Camp Create 2017 over at the MFT blog but I'm hoping to get a couple of entries posted before time is up!

So my card for today is for the Glitzy Glitter challenge. I don't have a lot of MFT dies yet but I had these Heart Balloons dies that are no longer available (sorry!) and these adorable Magical Dragons (which are available and you should definitely buy because they are so darn cute!) so I paired these up with some Basic Grey paper and came up with this card:

I used colors for my dragon that matched the colors in the paper and then used the clear (0) Copic pen to add some texture to the dragon's skin (and to lighten the color up a bit). Of course, the balloon is my glittery element which was fun to make but I'll be cleaning up glitter for three weeks. You know how that is, right?

Here's my badge for completing this challenge. Hopefully I'll have more to show you in the next two days!

Have a great day!

MFT Sketch 329

It's another Sketch challenge at the MFT Challenges blog. I enjoyed making this card for a friend and, although I adjusted the sketch a bit, it helped me come up with a great layout!  Here is the original sketch:

Here is the card I made:

I flipped the sketch and put the vertical strips on the right side rather than the left.  I also eliminated the small circle element. But I think the sketch is still pretty evident. And I think this is the first time I have used a Pure Innocence image (although it is an older one, but she's so darn cute!!) Oh and the sentiment is from the Sweet Sloths stamp set.

Thanks for popping by and taking a look!

Let's Kick it with MFT

This week I'm playing along again with the MFT Sketch Challenge. I had to break open my new set, Ninja-mazing because, well because they're just so darn cute!

Here's the sketch:

And here's my card:

I know! Can you handle the cuteness? The star printed paper was a scrap I had. I stamped the ninja on kraft cardstock and then colored him with Copic markers and added some white pencil highlights.

Thanks for stopping by and I'll see you again soon!

MFT Sketch Challenge 325

I recently splurged on some new stamps and couldn't wait to start playing with them! Buuutttt.....it turns out that the MFT Sketch challenge I wanted to participate in was screaming for an older set and you know how it is - when the stamps are calling your name, you go with it! New stamps will just have to wait their turn!

Here's the sketch for this week:

And here's my take on it, using the BBD set Every Day is a Picnic:

I also used the colors for the MFT Color Challenge which are Safety Orange, Cranberry Cocktail, Tropical Teal and Tangy Orange. This little gal was super fun to color and I haven't had a chance to stamp in awhile so it felt good chilling out with some Copic markers!

Thanks for stopping by!

Valentine PigWit

This month I am playing along with the Stamp of the Month challenge at From the Heart Stamps. I love this little guy from Hogs and Kisses and thought it would be the perfect Valentine for my son.

I randomly placed the digital kiss image on my background in Photoshop and printed it out and then colored the kisses with a pale gray Copic marker. A little blue was added to the xoxo's on the tags. PigWit himself was printed and colored with a variety of Copics also, cut into a square and mounted on an angle over my background. The inside of the card sports the phrase Hogs and Kisses which is included in this adorable digi set.

Thanks for stopping by - I hope to find more time to play soon!

MFT sketch challenge #314

Well it has been a long time since I have posted here!!  I haven't even been creating much in the past year. That's not entirely true - I've been creating vinyl car decals for sale in my Etsy shop and I've even gotten back to scrapbooking a little bit. But stamping? Not very much. But recently I reacquainted myself with My Favorite Things stamps and had to buy a few ca-ute sets and this year, I hope to play along with a few of their challenges.

This is the first sketch challenge of 2017 and I combined it with the color challenge as well. Here's the colors:

And the sketch we're working with is:

And finally, here's my card, using the Recipe for Happiness stamp set:

I'm putting this one aside for my husband for Valentine's Day. Isn't he cute (just like my hubby!!)?

Thanks for popping by - I hope to share here more often in 2017 or friend me on Facebook.

From the Heart Stamp of the Month

This month, I'm playing along with the Stamp of the Month challenge at From the Heart. I love the digital stamps from this site and the challenge is so easy - just use the Stamp of the Month and create whatever you want! Then, when you play along, you get the next month's Stamp of the Month image free so you can play again...and again...and so on!

This month's digital stamp is called Ice Cream Lineup and it's a perfect image for summer!
Here's my 5x5 card:

I wanted to use a lot of colors to make my card summery and I colored the ice cream to match my favorite flavors: caramel, strawberry and mint chocolate chip! Yummy! And isn't that sentiment perfect? We all need a treat once in awhile!

Thanks for stopping by and go have yourself a dish of ice cream!
