Cooking it up with Katie

Things are really starting to cook with Katie! Our Design Team has doubled in size and starting in August, we will be bringing you a challenge every single week with prizes! This week our recipe ingredients are:

1. Use yellow
2. Add faux or real stitching
3. Base your project on a sketch from another challenge blog

So I started with the sketch at CCEE Stampers and an adorable digi image from our sponsor this week, Meljen.

I included plenty of yellow and the stitching is in the ribbon - I love this look! With saddle stitched ribbon (from PaperTrey Ink), you can easily pull the stitching at one end and scrunch the ribbon - isn't it pretty? The paper is from Cosmo Cricket (DeLovely) and the image was colored with Copic markers.

Cooking it up with Katie sparkles!

This week, at Cooking it Up with Katie, our challenge ingredients are
1. alter or create an embellishment
2. add some sparkle
3. use a die cut

I took all 3 ingredients and used them on one thing on my card -

My flower embellishment was created by me using 2 sizes of flower die cuts which I then rolled so they would peel a little. On top of the flower I added a button that I altered by adding glue and prisma glitter and then a little floss bow adhered to the button. Three ingredients = one cute embellie!

The image is from Inkadinkadoo, the border punch by Martha Stewart and the paper by My Mind's Eye (? I think). Oh and if you click and take a closer look at the card, you'll see a little sparkle on each bird as well.

Cooking it Up challenge!

It's time for another challenge from Katie at Cooking it Up with Katie. The ingredients you need to include are:
Green
Embossing
and
Ribbon.

Digital Delights is sponsoring this challenge so we all used images from their delightful line. Here's my card:

I'm not sure what it is but I just love mermaids! And this is one of the cutest I have seen - and so fun to color! I have a little blue going on but still plenty of green to fulfill my recipe requirement. I embossed a section of vellum with a Cuttlebug folder (reminds me of bubbles) and tied on some shiny green ribbon to complete this 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 card.

Wings, Petals and Pink

The new challenge recipe at Cooking it Up with Katie includes the following ingredients: add wings, petals and pink. Perfect time for me to break out one of the new sets I haven't inked up yet from Lauren Meader and My Time Made Easy.

I stayed with a fairly simple color palette of Hollyhock (CTMH) and Sweet Blush (PTI) with a little Spring Moss (PTI) thrown in for the leaves. One section of the butterfly was stamped twice, cut out and popped up on foam tape as well as the flower to the far right. I added prisma glitter to the larger flowers and butterflies and sparkles here, there and everywhere. No sentiment so I can use this card in the future for a number of occasions.

I am hoping to get another post up later this week but I am working on some new goodies for my Etsy shop and we are having a houseguest and dog for the weekend so it's going to be a little crazy for a bit. Hope you're finding some creative time!

CIUWK ---- say what?

A new acronym for you - CIUWK. It stands for Cooking It Up With Katie and today is the start of a new challenge! Here is the recipe:

1. Be charming

2. Make it Male
3. Use 3 colors only (not including white to stamp on)

Ahhh....so charms and male really had me in a creative pickle. I don't have a lot of charms and I don't have a lot of male themed stamps and trying to pair what I do have was the real challenge. But once I found the components, the card went together quickly and easily.

Image and sentiment from Unity Stamp Co. Cardstock is from PTI and patterned paper is from....umm, I don't know. Sorry. I worked with ink colors to match the DP (which includes the recipe 3 colors - red, black and aqua) and I added a metal charm which has the word "adventure" on it (can't see in the photo). A little paper piercing and all done, masculine style!

Cooking it Up~

It's time for another challenge over at Cooking it Up with Katie and she's got a great recipe to have you all try this week! To play along, here are the ingredients you'll need:

1. Use a digital image
2. Add a little Purple (any shade from Lilac to Plum and it only has to be a little splash to count)
3. Use something 3 times (that could be 3 flowers, 3 different dp's, a 3 word sentiment, your choice as long as it's 3)

This week's challenge is sponsored by Glitterbabe so my digital image came from her.

Actually, I should say digital images because I used this one 3 times. I positioned 2 of the garlands so my print out would have one vertically on the right and one vertically on the left and the third garland was printed separately so I could cut it out. All were colored with Copics and that 3rd garland was added on foam tape for dimension.

Of course I used a good amount of purple in my coloring as well as pink and green to match the gorgeous, sparkly DP. And three ribbons finish my recipe. The sentiment is from a stamp set from Close To My Heart. One card down for Mother's Day, thanks to this challenge.

Cooking it Up with Katie

I am so excited to be starting on a new DT today for the Cooking it Up with Katie recipe challenge blog! (Can you tell yet that I {heart} challenges?) Katie has been bringing great challenges and decided she needed a team to help her out so here we are! To check out the rest of the team, see the link list under the badge to the right----->

For today's challenge, Katie is giving us the following "ingredients" to be used in our cards:

*Something old
*Something new
*Something that makes you think of sweet

Here's what I came up with:

Now isn't that sweet? The image is from Digital Delights, our sponsor for this challenge. I chose the bunny, not because Easter is near, but because I love bunnies and think they are perfect for any occasion! This sweetie will be a birthday card and inside it says simply "Somebunny loves you- Happy Birthday" Awwwww.
As for my old and new, well if you take a closer look at the flowers, you will see some new to me Prima flowers layered on top of flowers that were die cut from a vintage book I picked up at a resale shop. The texty stuff is all the rage now so I'm sure you'll see me using this look again sometime! And in addition to the sweet bunny, I think the ribbon and DP add quite an element of sweet to this card as well.
