Today I have 2 very similar cards to share with you and some Big Ideas as well. Let's get right to it.
I bought this gorgeous paper from Emma's Paperie a couple of weeks ago and when I got the new wreath stamp set from Papertrey Ink, I knew I had to pair them up:
I kept the layout fairly simple by cutting the bottom edge of the DP for interest and allowing the image to do the rest of the work.
Then, as I was looking at the finished project, I had an idea. I could create a background similar to the gorgeous patterned paper with a few stamp sets (thus saving this paper for another project at a later date). So I grabbed the PTI sets Embellishments and Text Style and this is what I came up with:
Here's the Big Ideas I incorporated into this background:
* I first stamped the swirl images by adding 4 different swirl stamps to my acrylic block, inking them all together with a honey gold ink and stamping them at one time on my paper. Repeat as necessary to fill the space.
* Since the swirls on my DP have more than 1 color to them, I used a Copic marker in a rusty orange color and outlined various sections of each stamped swirl. I then used a tan/beige Copic to add color around the outside of some of the swirls.
* Finally I overstamped the entire piece with the Text Style stamps to replicate the text on the DP.
My wreath was added on top a looped piece of ribbon and two buttons were added to finish up my card. A similar card and all created by me!
I hope you enjoyed this 2-fer today. I'm posting about my teen years over at Ridiculous Lab later today - hope you'll join me!
