Backpack from GBGD

Hi all! I have a new template to share with you from Girl Boy Girl Designs. This time it's an adorable little backpack but here's the cool thing - you get a tiny version of the template as well as a larger version so you can create the size that's best for you!

I made the small version - and a card to accompany this little cutie -

The card is a standard size so you can judge the size of the backpack. I love the tiny pocket on the front - sooo cute! And take a look at the back:

LOVE the ribbon straps! I added a velcro closure to the main flap so it can be opened easily, a little gift (prefect size for a gift card too!) can be tucked inside and then opened easily by the recipient. I think this would be a great gift for anyone graduating school at any level!

A Bunny Pillow Box

This cutie-patootie pillow box is another template creation from Jen Balding at Girl Boy Girl Designs. What I love about it is that there is a twist from a conventional pillow box - it has a squared, flat bottom so it stands up! So I was thinking Easter and decided to make a Bunny Pillow Box - take a look:

The section that is gray is the pillow box itself. I cut it from a sheet of 12 x 12 cardstock on my Cameo and the great thing about this template is the fold/score lines are "poked" by the machine in the cutting process. Not sure how to describe that but let me tell you, makes scoring much easier! I assembled the box and then made the bunny face using a Nestabilities circle die. One large circle makes the face, 2 smaller ones for the cheeks (which I lightly outlines with pale pink chalk) and 2 even smaller ones for the eyes. That's it. I colored the eyes with a dark gray Copic marker, leaving a tiny piece white. I also added a little pale pink Copic for the mouth and a couple of hand drawn whiskers using a thin tip pen. Finally, the nose was die cut using a tiny flower die and felt (you could also use another small circle, a heart, etc...)

On the top of the pillow box are two holes which you can use to add a ribbon loop. I chose to thread a ribbon loop up through each hole creating two ribbon ears. Then a little matching bow, added with a glue dot, finishes my Easter Bunny box.

This Chick Cuts

Back again with a card that features an adorable cutting file from This Chick Cuts/Jen Balding. Jen is also the owner of Girl Boy Girl Designs and she has the darn cutest templates in her shop. But today, I'm working with a cut file that doesn't make anything 3 dimensional but is still ca-ute!! And perfect timing - I needed a card for my bestest best friend Kathy who is just going to open her first real professional photography studio!! So excited for her! Here's the card I made:

I started with the camera file which I cut with my Cameo, then mounted the pieces onto a pale yellow cardstock. This piece was then framed with a Nestabilities cut frame which was then added to a beautiful card base of Teresa Collins paper printed in gray and yellow - one of my favorite color combos! The "flash" pieces were mounted along the top edge of the frame so they pop off the card just a little bit. The congratulations sentiment was added over the strip on the cardstock that shows Teresa Collins' name. Good way to use every square inch of great paper!

Lollipop Holder?

I have another great template from Girl Boy Girl Designs to share with you. This time, it's a Lollipop Holder but I used it a little differently. First, let me tell you a bit about this template. It comes with 4 templates - two rectangles and two hearts (which can layer one over the other). Each template has a couple of cuts which act as the holder for a lollipop stick. Here is the cut piece before sprucing it up:

Those tabs to the left is where the stick would be inserted. As you can see, I opted to use the horizontally oriented rectangle in the set. But instead of adding a lollipop, I used it a little differently:

I started by embossing the cut piece with an Impression Plate from Papertrey Ink. Then I used the tabs for the sucker and inserted the pin that I created from some PTI felt. In this case, the tabs were lined up just right for my pin but if you needed to move them closer or farther apart, the procedure is relatively simple - at least with the Silhouette software.  Simply "Ungroup" the image and then each piece can be moved independently of one another so you can move the tabs where you need them.

Valentine Treat Mug

Time has really gotten away from me this week - all due to reorganizing my craft room! What an undertaking! But I'm happy to say, I am 95% done and ready to get back to crafting. Pictures of the reorganized space coming soon.

Before I got caught up in IKEA shelving, baskets and more, I did create this adorable Valentine Mug from a Girl Boy Girl Designes template and my Cameo:

I cut the template from plain white cardstock and then stamped the border image (Quilled Elegance stamps from Papertrey Ink). I added some pink Copic coloring and tied a nice satin ribbon around the middle and then filled it with yummy goodies! A great, simple way to dress up a snack-y treat for Valentine's Day for a special someone!

Girl Boy Girl Designs

Hi all! Sorry I've been MIA for a few days - I'm on week 2 of bronchitis and a second round of antibiotics and it's all just been kicking my butt!

BUT, I had a couple of days over the weekend in which I didn't feel like sleeping 20 out of 24 hours so I squeezed in a little crafting. I am joining the team for Girl Boy Girl Designs and I am so excited to play along because Jen has the cutest templates that can be cut on my new Cameo!! (Oh, or any other cutting machine - the Cameo just happens to be what I have but you can use these templates with other systems as well).

This is my first project using the Pretty Purse template -

Isn't it the sweetest thing? And it's the perfect size for a gift card (or other small goodies). I used a piece of heavy double-sided printed paper to create the base of the purse and a pretty pink cardstock for the flap and handle. To dress it up a bit, I embossed the pink sections using an impression plate from Papertrey Ink. Here is a little close up so you can see some of the detail:

 I love that added texture! The closure is decorated with a hand-cut felt heart and a big button, threaded with some skinny white ribbon. Might be the perfect Valentine packaging! And easy?
